The Taste of Barbados Food Festival starts today, October 5, and runs until October 14. Take a look at the full calendar of events.

St. Lucia will be hosting their second (I think) Food and Rum Festival, from November 1 to 4. The events schedule for the Food and Rum festival is available here.

Trinidad and Tobago lays claim to being the pioneers of this kind of culinary tourism event; the Taste T&T festival began in 2005. Both the Trini Gourmet and the Chennette attended and reviewed the Taste T&T 2007. Unfortunately I won’t be able to do the same for the Taste of Barbados festival; the event prices are, for the most part, higher than I can afford right now.

Still, I’m dreaming that some year I’ll be able to take a culinary tour of the Caribbean: T&T in July, Barbados in October, and on to St. Lucia and Jamaica (for Kingston Restaurant Week) in November. By the time I’m able to afford it, there’ll probably be three or four more food festivals that I’ll be able to add to my schedule. Hmm. Maybe I should take that dream and begin to convert it to a plan, yes?
