Once again a public figure in Barbados is complaining about the destructive influence of dancehall music, and blaming radio station DJs for their complicity in fostering a negative Jamaican-influenced subculture. And once again the radio stations are saying that it’s not their fault.
How many times have I heard this exact same debate in the past 20 years or so? Too many to count.
In related news, researchers in the US are concerned about teenagers’ exposure to music with drug and alcohol references.
