I learned last week that a pair of shoes hanging from utility lines, as in this photo, means that there’s a drug-hole, in Anton’s words, nearby.
Coincidentally, the day after I saw that photo I passed through the district where it was taken, and noticed, for the first time, the shoes on the wire. Considering the powerful weed odour that pervades that section of the street, I don’t think that the extra advertising provided by the shoes is necessary.
