I’ve previously linked to the Barbados Blog, written by a Scotsman who’s moved to Barbados. One of Garry’s persistent peeves is the way people drive in Barbados. It really seems to irk him, and with good reason.

To balance the (valid) criticism, another self-proclaimed “Barbadophile” presents a somewhat more favourable account of some of the nicer aspects of Bajan driving culture.

That brings back memories – I also found the horn thing very amusing and fun really. I got right into it and tooted at everyone. There was the ‘I’ll let you in toot’ then the thank you toot, and then the you’re welcome toot and usually another thank you just for the heck of it. It was all very friendly. I rarely heard a horn in anger which is what you get used to in Toronto where everyone thinks they personally own the road and you are trespassing on their personal property.
