The Class (Entre les Murs), dir. by Laurent Cantet (2008) The Class (Entre les Murs). Synopsis:

Winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival , master French director Laurent Cantet’s The Class is an absorbing journey into a multicultural high school in Paris over the course of a school year. François Begaudeau—an actual teacher and the author upon whose work the film was based—is utterly convincing as François, an openminded teacher in charge of a classroom of youngsters from a wide variety of backgrounds.

In addition to winning the Palme d’Or, The Class won an Independent Spirit Award for Best Foreign Film, and was nominated for an Oscar™ for Best Foreign Film. It is, hands down, the best film I have ever seen about teaching at a high school. You should see it if you get the chance. It’s outstanding.
