I recently (and much to the detriment of my current account) discovered Etsy. Well, I knew about it before, but I only recently began browsing around the site and discovering what great stuff is available for purchase. (And for the record, I blame Michelle for this; it was her link to this shop, where I bought a cute little pair of silver turtle earrings, that started it all.)
It didn’t occur to me until this week to look up Etsy sellers from Barbados; there are a few, and I thought I’d share some of their work with you.

Percy Lee, a Jamaican entrepreneur, was featured recently in Advanced Style, a blog that highlights the personal style of senior citizens: you have got to check out his black and white pin-dot tuxedo with red accents – it’s hot!
On a different note, the blog author(s) described Percy as “half-Chinese, half-Jamaican”. This seems to be one of those cases (and I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt here) where “Jamaican” is used as if it’s a racial descriptor. In this case, it’s not entirely obvious, but I have several times come across articles where it is said about someone that one parent is white and the other Jamaican (I can’t recall having seen this with Caribbean nationalities other than Jamaican, interestingly enough), and it always bothers me a bit, because the assumption involved is that Jamaican≡black, which of course it doesn’t.
